That famous phrase used by Tom Cruise in the movie Jerry Maguire is quite relative to a large proportion of the recruiting I currently undertake.
Clients often use the word “urgent” when asked how quickly they need someone to start work. I take this at face value and set the wheels in motion. Often I am able to get candidates CV’s in front of my clients within 24 hours, after searching, screening and shortlisting.
Unfortunately the process often then slows down due to little or no communication (I thought this was urgent!). The downside of this is that together we run the risk of losing the engagement and enthusiasm of the candidate. There is also the risk of losing them completely to other offers.
With the ever growing demand for talent, especially in our industry, it really is a case of the early bird catches the worm.
